Bonnie Hinz, Her work incorporates industrial and durable nature of metal can work in harmony with fragile glass

Comment     Print

Bonnie Hinz is an artist living and working in the Minneapolis area, and is best known for her glass and metal sculptures. She began her career first as an Interior Designer, then became fascinated with glass blowing. Taking a glass blowing course from a nearby college, she became hooked. After taking several years of classes while still working full-time, she decided to build her own studio and made the switch from design to full-time artist in 2004.

Bonnie envisioned larger-scale glass and metal artwork, and became captivated by the way the strong, industrial and durable nature of metal can work in harmony with the fragile, organic nature of glass. She then began developing ways to incorporate metal with glass. She enjoys combining the two materials into seamlessly integrated designs. The majority of the work she does is site-specific commissions. She has completed many commercial and residential commissions throughout the United States.
